catch me if ya can:)

« on: January 08, 2006, 08:59:53 AM »

I'm trying to scan a pic of my nephew for the heartwalk website (he had heart surgery as a baby), and i can't get it small enough.  it's for his own webpage at the heart association site, and getting the pic up and a summary is what gets donations in his name.  Please help!

the site says it can't be over 50 KB, and i can't get it to be less than 1000KB without it looking bad.  i scanned a regular 4 X 6 pic, and then cropped it and resized it to "webpage display" and it still didn't upload.  then resized to "wallet size" and it still wouldn't upload due to size.  i've tried changing pixels, but i don't know what i'm doing in that regard, and it seems to lose resolution when i mess with that. not sure at all how to change the default settings to make it small enough.

anyone know how to help?

thanks you soooooooooooh much sara-care-beara, and hawna-fawna!

tis nice to have frens here.

my nepehew's been the spokes-kid for the local heartwalk for a few years in a row, and this website is kinda new (local) so my sis is trying to get the pic on there.

do either of you know how, when i'm scanning original pics (size 4X6) how i can get them to be 2X2, without messing with the quality?  she has an 8 1/2 X 11 laminated thingy with pics of him each year since his surgery ~ a picture of him right after his surgery at 20 months, and then one each for 1999 to 2004. there's no more room on the sheet for one more pic (2005), so she wants me to scan the originals again, and move the others closer together to make more room, but in order to do that, i gotta make 'em 2 inches by 2 inches.

boy i sure wish computers were my bag instead of psychology.  knowing computer stuff would be helpful.  knowing psychology stuff has just made me screwed up in the head!

Wink

{hugs you both}

hana, sara's been helpin' me out (thank *gawd* for her and her niceness)!

she made it less than 50KB, but when i try to upload it to my nephew's heartwalk page it says this:

Sorry, your image was not uploaded because the file size was too big (>50K) or the file type was not acceptable (jpg or gif).

for goodness sake, what's a ten year old with a computer illiterate mother and a twelve-inch scar down his chest supposed to do to raise some money fer cryin' out loud, i ask myself.

anyhoo, any suggestions would be *majorly* appreciated.

I know sometimes when I am adding a picture here it won't accept one that I have and all I do is rename it. Even if it is already a .jpg, I go into the rename feature and retype it as a .jpg or . JPG and it magically works.......Hope that helps.

...Liz'beth ~ i am sendin' you my email in private message... ~ you can send me the picture.. though to be honest... i think maybe something might be wrong with the site you're uploading things to.... i mean.. i bet the file is fine... and that the site is doin'something goofy...

but.. i can peek at the picture too.. you might just have to make the file 49k ... or somethin'!... ^_^
